With 16,695 students qualifying for medical and dental seats under the COMEDK quota — 7,560 more than last year — and 41,684 eligible for engineering seats, students are keeping their fingers crossed to see if they have made the cut.

Those who will select seats in 12 medical, 25 dental and more than 150 unaided, private engineering member colleges of COMEDK, will be entitled to 40 per cent of the medical, 45 per cent of the dental and 30 per cent of the total engineering seats in private professional institutions in Karnataka.

Numbers game

With the counselling set to commence on July 2, students have been advised to keep an eye on the pervious years’ cut-off ranks. COMEDK chief executive A.S. Srikanth shared the possible cutoff.

While general merit candidates with ranks within 2,300 can be assured of medical seats, those within rank 6,000 can be positive about getting a dental seat in any of the COMEDK member colleges.

While engineering rank-holders up to 25,000 can be sure they will get a seat, only the top 8,000 will get seats in the popular colleges, Mr. Srikanth said.
