Higher organisms have resorted to sexual reproduction in spite of their complexity because

•sexual reproduction helps in introducing variations in the progenies due to the combination of DNA from two different parents.

•These variations allow the survival of offspring in a changed environment. Variations also lead to the evolution of new species.

•This helps the offsprings to adapt to its environment and survive in a better way

•On the other hand, asexual reproduction does not provide genetic differences in the individuals produced.
