Hi Madhvi,

With 42% in 12th, admission to universities in Canada can be challenging, as most require at least 50-60%. However, you still have options:

  1. Diploma Programs – Some colleges like Seneca, Humber, or Centennial offer diploma courses with flexible entry requirements.

  2. Foundation Programs – You can take a pathway course in Canada to improve your academic profile before entering a degree program.

  3. Private Colleges – Some private institutions accept lower percentages, but research them well before applying.

  4. Improve Academics – Consider reappearing for 12th exams or taking additional certification courses to boost your profile.

Also, ensure you meet the IELTS/TOEFL score requirements for student visas.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries then feel free to share your questions with us we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you and wishing you all the best for your bright future.

Hello Madhvi,

Pursuing higher education in Canada with a 42% in your 12th grade presents challenges, as many Canadian universities typically require a minimum of 65% to 70% for admission. However, there are alternative pathways you can consider:

  1. Enroll in Diploma or Certificate Programs: Many Canadian colleges offer diploma or certificate courses with more flexible admission criteria. These programs can provide practical skills and may have lower percentage requirements compared to degree programs. After completing a diploma, you might have the option to transfer credits towards a degree program later on.

  2. Strengthen Your English Proficiency: Achieving a high score on English proficiency tests like IELTS or TOEFL can enhance your application profile. A strong command of English demonstrates your readiness for academic challenges and can sometimes offset lower academic scores.

  3. Consider Foundation or Bridging Programs: Some institutions offer foundation or bridging courses designed to prepare students for undergraduate studies. These programs can help you meet the academic requirements for degree courses upon successful completion.

  4. Highlight Extracurricular Activities and Work Experience: Emphasizing relevant work experience, volunteer work, or extracurricular activities in your application can showcase your commitment and skills beyond academics.

  5. Consult with Educational Consultants: Engaging with educational consultants can provide personalized guidance tailored to your academic background and career aspirations. They can assist in identifying suitable programs and institutions that align with your profile.

It's important to note that Canada has recently implemented stricter regulations on study permits and temporary residents. The government plans to reduce the number of international study permits issued, aiming for 437,000 in 2025, down from 509,390 in 2023. Additionally, eligibility criteria for work permits have become more stringent. These changes underscore the importance of a strong and well-prepared application.

While the path may require additional effort and planning, with determination and the right resources, studying in Canada remains an achievable goal.
