Laptop is a basic requirement for ECE. You might get it away without laptop for FE but you need to do a lot of simulation when you are in SE-TE. You would waste lot of time and money if you doesn't have laptop when you have a creative idea in your mind. Also computer languages like C++, JAVA requires practice which is only possible if you have laptop. Hope it helps. Thank you.

It doesn't matter being in 1st yr or 2nd or 3rd, Using laptop will give you a practical exposure to the knowledge you are gaining.

Yes,a laptop is a basic requirement for ece.

Right now, all the colleges over India have started Online Education. IIT Mumbai have cancelled all the normal classes for this entire year and started to provide free laptops for students in need.

Also attending online classes on mobiles makes stress on our eyes (concentrating on small screens). So it is very useful for you buying a laptop.

Now talking about academic requirement for ECE:

From the 3rd semester it will be of huge importance.

There are certain softwares like multisim,pspice,orcad etc on which you can simulate any circuit that pops out of your mind and check whether it is working or not. If you don't have a laptop then you will have to buy each of the components and patch it on the breadboard each time you want to do something new. So in other words laptop will save you time and money.

Other than that you will be taught several programming languages like C,java,oops etc in different semesters. Especially Basic C and Python programming languages are taught in first 2 semesters itself. without practice, these languages are impossible to learn so your laptop will come handy in such cases.

Even from first year a laptop is necessary for programming.

That is why most of the college are providing laptops during admissions only.
