Hi,

There are diifrent ways you can get admissions for PHd in IItand NIIts

If you have 8.0 or above CGPA in Btech from an IIt you can directly apply for Phd in IIt. Though final descion depends upon cut-off criterion.
you can also appear for JRF-NET, GATE, FATE exams for the same
