Now if we talk on general basis, then there are two ways that colleges take admission or allot seats to students.

First one is on the basis of Entrance exam. Colleges take their own entrance exams and then they select top scorer according to the availability of seats for the courses. Not all colleges have their own entrance exams, some take admission on the basis of score students have secured in national claimed exams which have very fair means of conduction of exam.

Second way of admission is based on Merit list. In this system, your past qualifying examinations like 10+2 if applying for Undergraduate courses or graduation result if applying for Postgraduate courses. A merit list is prepared on the basis of percentage of last qualifying exam of the applicants and then selection is done.
