The candidate has to first get registered for a step, upon which the eligibility period and scheduling permit will be issued. Using the permit the candidate can schedule the test. To schedule a USMLE exam, you'll need to follow these steps:

• Register for the exam on the USMLE website.
• After registering, you will receive an eligibility period during which you can take the exam.
• Once you have your eligibility period, go to the Prometric website to select a test center, date, and time that suits your schedule.
• Pay the exam fee, and confirm your appointment.
