first of all you will have to choose either B-Tech in computer science Engineering or BCA.

then after you will have two choices either you can persue M-Tech or direct Phd.

I reccomand you to persue direct Phd,because it will reduce the extra time.

and then you can apply in many research centers for your future research study.

First you need to have a bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems or software engineering.After that you should do Masters and PhD in computer field.The additional degree should contain cousrework in hardware and software systems and computational modelling and programming.

For masters you should write GATE/GRE exams.

You need to have strong mathematical acumen and anayltical skills.

Dear Pranay, for starters you should have a BE/B.Tech degree in Computer Sciences, Software Enginerring or IT. You haven't mentioned in which stream of Engineering have you graduated from. Neverthless, post B.E/B.Tech, youbshould take up any programme that enhances your skills in alorgithims, computer design and computation. A computer scientist has a wide range of variety to choose from. You can choose to study Alogrithms, data structures, databases, programming languages, cryptography, artificial intelligence, etc. So you can choose to study any one of these as your specialisations in your Master's degree. Designing and developing computer technology, investigation of technological topics like Artificial Intelligence, research in improving the performance of the existing computers and software , hardware and computing techniques and materials can be the areas of research if you want to take up Ph.D.  The admission process depends on the colleges that you want to get into.
