Dear aspirant,

EWS category is for those who are from economically backward sections and do not fall under SC,ST,OBC etc. To be considered under the EWS category the annual family income of the family from all sources must be less than 8 LPA. As we know, there is a provision of reservations for SC, ST and OBCs in our country but not for the general category. So, to bring a balance and to help those students which can't afford studies  due to their family background. A reservation of 10% is given to all the students who come under this category.
