Hello Candidate,
Here are the factors and steps by which the JEE percentile is calculated for each student-
1. The percentile in rough, can be expressed as the average marking of students out of hundred such that the best student who has got the maximum marks in the examination is awarded hundred percentile in that particular shift.
2. Secondly the marks of individual subjects are taken in a preferential order of mathematics first, followed by physics, and at last chemistry in order to rank the percentile of those students which have scored the same marks.
3. If the individual marks of subjects such as physics chemistry and mathematics, are also same for any two students then the age factor is taken into consideration which means that the child having hire is given slightly more percentile than his counterpart. The percentile is expressed up to 7 decimal places for getting precise ranking.
