Hello,

There are various aspects of any higher learning institute. For you to take a decision, I am mentioning some of the pointers. If some are missed, feel free to ask for it. (please read the entire write up.)

Teachers- they are good in all aspects. Law in particular and as how I have perceived in general and from opinion of some of my friends in other streams- b. Com and mass communication, they are good as well. In all aspects, I mean in knowledge and cooperation, which you require in any good teacher. Out of the book- Yeah, if you are interested, teachers too are interested.

Extra curricular activities and opportunities- there can be two types - in house and representing your college outside. Sadly, this is one of the areas where you can say that college lacks. Though steps have been taken recently. Yeah, there are some seminars but clubs have been formed the past year only. The problem is it lacks the required participation. Same goes for the opportunities outside the college. The college gives attendance and also motivate students but again the environment acts as the biggest catalyst which for the time being is not that evident.

Infrastructure- It again depends on stream like for chemistry there should be labs, and so on. Here is where you can say, it beats other. It will not disappoint you. It's air-conditioned and amenities are there but you won't find a big playground. A small indoor football sized ground is there with basketball stadium. For indoor- table tennis and some others are there. Classrooms are good too. But, if you have a low batch strength, then you have to compromise like us. So, the sad point is GROUND.

Social life- the crux for some of us. It doesn't exist in isolation. It is a composition of friends and facilities. About friends, you have to choose, not all will be good, not all will be bad. About the places you can hop, it's a bit inside, so you cannot expect a life like in South Kolkata that is Park Street area where things are at stone throw away distance. Though there are some in Sector 5. Google will help you out.

If you need to know about any other pointers feel free to ask. And yeah, attendance is a problem, you have to be regular, location depends on your place, don't believe admission officials- sessions many a times get extend to 4 pm, be ready for that, so it implies a secondary course will be very difficult, also a bit tiredness and a restricted social life. As I said, as we look for exposure, it's a bit less but if you are motivated, you will find your way out. Coming to the fees, yes, it's hefty, and for an undergraduate course, you need to balance your decision. Don't measure it with the facilities you are getting but the facilities you need.

Thanku.
