On Upwork, the payment is done on two bases, one is a fixed price job and another one is a per hour job. In the fixed price job you will get paid at the end of the project( when you have completed the project). And in per hours job you will get paid for the hours you work.

Once you complete your work the client will release the fund for you then you can request money from your bank, PayPal, etc once the amount reflects into your account.
