Let me make you understand your answer through an example, let's suppose you are passing your class 12th in 2022, then you will be eligible for JEE-Main 2022, 2023 and 2024, which in all makes you eligible for total 12 sessions because you can appear for maximum of three years consecutively for JEE-Main after passing class 12th which includes the passing year of class 12th as well and in every year there would be 4 sessions so you will get total 12 attempts for JEE-Main. Now for JEE-Advance you can only appear if you qualify JEE-Main of that year, like you will only be eligible for JEE-Advance 2022 and 2023, provided that you qualify JEE-Main 2022 and 2023 respectively because for JEE-Advance on can appear only for maximum of 2 years consecutively which includes the passing year of class 12th as well. Note that even if you qualify JEE-Main 2024 then also you will not be considered for JEE-Advance 2024 if you are going to pass class 12th in 2022.

So for any candidate there are total 12 attempts allowed for JEE-Main in 3 consecutive years and 2 attempts in 2 consecutive years for JEE-Advance, as per the current norms.
