I would like to tell you that merit seat are given out in most government coleges as well as in some private colleges.

As all the colleges/universitites are different, a particular number cannot be decided .

The merit seat depends upo the examination, the number os students appearing for it, students who belong to various caste and many more things.

So it's not possible to give an approximate value to you.
