Hello Aspirant,

See there are various factors through which it is decided that which seat you are going to get on the basis of some particular marks in JEE-Main. Those factors will be your category, home state, cut-offs, number of students appeared in the examination and so on. Let us say you belongs to Andhra Pradesh and your category is General and you got 150 marks in JEE-Main but your friend having name X also belongs to Andhra Pradesh but of reserved category SC and he is getting 100 marks in JEE-Main. So when seat allotment will take place you both might be getting the seat in same college or this also may happen that your friend X could get the college which is better than yours. This is because he belongs to reserved category and he got that college according to his category rank and you got the college as per your overall rank which is comparatively much higher than that. So different colleges have different cut-offs for different categories and since you have not mentioned about the category and in which college you wants to get admission so it is little bit difficult for us to guide you accurately and help you with the exact information.

You should score 90+ percentile to be eligible for jee advanced exam . So you have to prepare for about 95+ percentile to get a good nit or iit for further studies. 90+ will make you eligible but 95+ will give you a good enginnering college for studies.
