Hello,

As per the news and what HRD Minister told to Lok Sabha there will be an increase of 5100 seats in IITs and 4500 seats in NITs in coming sessions. However, there has been an increase of around 1309 seats in NITs, 609 in IITs and 209 in IIITs this session to satisfy immediate EWS requirements. Also, there has been news of an increase in intake by some NITs (NIT Warangal) and there are 2 new IIITs and 5 new GFTIs participating in JoSAA this year. You can check this article https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/josaa for a detailed understanding of JoSAA counselling and the number of seats up for grabs.

Thank You

Well the exact figures have not been revealed by the government or JOSAA but you can make an estimate. The female quota seats will go up from 14 percent to 18 percent so 4 percent increase there. The EWS category increases another 10 percent seats but it is not quite as simple as it may sound.

Go to JOSAA website and check the seat matrix for each institute and you would see the exact breakup of seat distribution.
