Different states hold different entrance examinations w.r.t admission in this engineering course. Some hold JELET, some call CEEP and some just name it a CET of the particular university. In any case you need to pass in this examination to get admitted in it. 
Generally people with age below 18 years or above 26 years is not allowed to sit for this examination.
