There are basically 4 streams for admission in National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).

Now breaking them up :-

• Stream 1  is for all Learners and Freshers, and the admission is open in two blocks in a year
• Stream 2  is for for unsuccessful /failures of recognized boards who could not clear or were note eligible to clear the Public Examination of Secondary/Senior Secondary Levels. They can appear in October exam to save their previous year
• Stream 3 is for unsuccessful/failures of recognized boards to appear through On Demand Examination System(ODES).
• Stream  4 is for unsuccessful/failures of recognized boards to appear through On-Demand Examination System at Senior Secondary level.
