Nearly 35000 seats were there in all IIT s ; NIT s; IIIT s; and GFIT s
Out of which nearly 10000 is for IIT and nearly 18000 for NIT
2500 for IIIT and other for GFIT.
Further there these are divided into categories
17000 general( nit IIT IIIT gfit)
8500 for obc
5000 for sc
3000 for St
1000 for pwd.
All seats are nearly to the exact values.

Every year the number varies but to get an idea around 10-12 lakh students attempt JEE MAINS.

And out of that around 150,000-250,000 get into JEE Advanced.

Out of that, around 10,000 get into IIT's and around 18,000 into NIT's.

As per the JoSAA data, a total of 12079 seats are available this year in IITs for both 4 year and 5 year courses including the 800 supernumerary reserved seats. For the B.Tech courses 679 seats are reserved for women out of 10022 seats.
