Sources say that NTA has anticipated registrations from about 6 lakh candidates for the first attempt. However, they have received a much larger figure.
According to the sources at HRD ministry, this figure definitely has proven to be a support to the idea of conducting JEE Main twice a year and in online mode only.
As per the report out of the total 9.65 lakh registered candidates, 6.85 lakhs are males and 2.8 lakhs are females. In addition to that, 38 transgenders have applied.
