Well your question isn't clear. You have not mentioned about any particular college or university regarding which you might be needing information. Also you need to mention the hostel along with the college whose information you need to find. Without all of that details I won't be able to provide you an answer.

I am not sure what you mean by the question but still, if you are interested in knowing then the number of years you spend in a hostel (university) will be the same the number of years you remain enrolled at a college for a course (unless you drop out or get year backs)

- MBBS - 5 years

- Law (BA LLB) - 5 years

- Engineering - 4 years

- Architecture - 4 years

- Arts, Commerce and Social sciences - 3 years

- most PG degrees - usually 2 years

- diplomas and specialized courses - 1 year

- UPSC training - 2 years
