On an average, a mechanical engineer graduate from  IIT/NIT can get a package of approx 4-6 lakhs per annum if you get placed in private firms and if in government organisation then you can expect it initially somewhere approx 3 lakhs.

IIT gives you plenty of opportunities. You'll never have to worry about money if you only learn to use them.
