Aerospace Engineering at IIEST Shibpur is an average department. It has just opened few years ago and the infrastructure and labs are not upto the mark. Few of the faculty members are very good but rest of them are bad and don't have a teaching methodology at all. No core companies visited for placements till now. But it has close contact with IIT Kanpur Aerospace department so things should improve. 

• Right now Old leading IITs having Aerospace Engineering department, are better than Shibpur in Aerospace Engineering.
• In 2014 BESU Shibpur has been transformed into an “Indian Institute of Engineering Science & Technology” / IIEST and an “Institute of National Importance” by the Govt. of India and since then the institute is developing very fast into an IIT / IISc like institute and all the faculties including Aerospace engineering are improving a lot.
• In recent MHRD / NIRF Ranking, IIEST Shibpur is placed at 7th in Research Parameter -just after six old leading IITs and Above All other IITs and Above All NITs in the country.
• With its 160 years of legacy in engineering education and credited with development of First IIT in India at Kharagpur, IIEST Shibpur is going to catch up with leading IITs in almost all the areas including Aerospace Engineering.
