To get admission into a good NIT as a general category boy, you generally need to aim for a high percentile in entrance exams like JEE Main. While the exact percentile requirements can vary each year, a percentile above 93-97 is generally considered competitive to get admission in NITs.

Hope you are doing good ! It depends on your choice. If you want to go for best nit and best branch it will take 99+ percentile definitely. General Category candidates need to score a minimum of 95 percentile score to get NITs . For reserved category candidates, the 80 percentile score is enough to get NITs. This is only for getting any nit and any branch .

It is better to aim for a percentile between 85 to 95 is generally considered good for getting NIT seats1. You need to be aware that these percentile changes from year to year as JEE Mains are conducted every year national wide

Answering to your question having a score around 250 or more is good enough for getting seat in IIT’s and NIT’s. As you need to aware that the cutoff will also plays a key role for getting admission in NIT’s and IIT’s.
