Firstly, I would like to say that you should always aim for scoring maximum marks possible as it helps you to become eligible in most of the merit-based colleges. The cutoff varies from college to college and the category from which you are applying. The government colleges that accepts merit based admission will consider your CBSE score only. Other colleges may also conduct entrance exam followed by a personal interview as a part of their selection process.

So, my suggestion for you is to aim for maximum marks you can achieve in your 12th exams so that you are able to get best colleges as options for you.
