apart from engineering streams, subjects like english, economics, linguistic, psychology, sociology are included in gate exams streams of subjects. however marking schemes is  as follows:

The General Aptitude section will be carrying 15 marks in total

the Reasoning and Comprehension section will carry 15 questions in total in MSQ/MCQ format, which  will carry a maximum mark of 25 - 05 questions will be of 1 mark each and the remaining 10 questions will be of 2 marks each.

The third section (English) will contain 60 questions in total in MSQ/MCQ type.

There will be 20 questions in the third section and each question will carry 1 mark while the remaining 20 questions will carry 2 marks each .

negative marking is allotted  for wrong/incorrect attempts.
