To become sub inspector, candidates must apply for SI Examination first. This exam is conducted by Staff Selection Commission. Only graduated candidates are eligible to apply for this examination. In this examination, first candidates have to clear the Physical Endurance Test. Eligible candidates must go under the process of Physical Endurance Test (PET). Candidates who have cleared  Physical Endurance Test  will be called for  Written Examination and after clearing the written exam candidates have to attend interview and medical examination. Candidates who will get selected in interview and medical examination will be taken to their training modules.

Some points of eligibility which is necessary to keep in mind while applying for this post are mentioned below:

• To become the Sub Inspector in the Department of Indian Police, one must have a Indian Citizenship.
• The minimum educational qualification to become Police Sub inspector is to have  Bachelor degree (Must be graduate) in any discipline with 50% marks from a recognized university / Institute.
• Those individuals who’re passing put from the  12th standard   will not be eligible to get the SI Jobs in Police Department.
• Applier’s age must be resided in between 20 to 25 years as on last date of official notification.
• Candidates must have a Height of 170 cm with Chest of 80-85 cm to get the Sub Inspector Recruitment in Police Department.

The upper age limit as prescribed above will be relaxed only in the following cases:-

• Upto a maximum of 05 years, for ST
• Upto a maximum of 3 years, for OBC
• Relaxation in the upper age limit is admissible upto 40 years (43 years for OBC, 45 years for SCs/STs) for departmental candidates of Police.

First of all you have marksheet having more than 60% in 10+2 and you should have a degree of 60% minimum marks. Then you have to maintain your physic according to your height and weight which is shown on official website. And you must prepare for physical fitness in which you have to do chin-ups, marathon, push-ups, sit ups, long jump, high jump.
