In computing index mark or index track is physical impression on a hard disc drive. Its purpose is to to indicate the starting point of each track on the hard disk drive. Usually an index mark takes the form of a hole gap for magnetic strip.

The index mark will be calculated binding aggregate percentage of marks and the percentage marks in mathematics and then multiply it by two. The result obtained in this calculation is a index mark.
