It consists of the four main subjects—General Intelligence and Reasoning, English, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness—that are included in nearly all Tier 1 exams.

The CGL Tier 1 exam is an online, multiple-choice test that follows the SSC CGL exam structure. There are 100 questions overall throughout 4 parts of the exam. There are 200 total points allotted for the Tier I test. The Tier I test lasts for sixty minutes (eighty minutes for candidates with disabilities).
