I apologise for having misread your question. For JEE main paper 1, the first stepping stone is to completely solve the ncert textbook. You need to solve every question from the exercise and examples such that you are able to solve any question from the book easily. If you do this, there are 90% chances that you will clear JEE main paper 1. After you've managed to do so, refer to to reference books and clear your doubts on any topic. They will give you a stronger base on topics. After doing this, if you've some time left, solve the past year papers of JEE main, at least 5 years so that you have more speed and accuracy in solving the questions. Doing these will definitely help you in your JEE main preparation.

JEE main paper 2 is considered easier when compared to JEE main paper 1. But, the cutoff for JEE main paper 2 is same as JEE main paper 1. So, with board level preparation and practising the previous year question papers, you can easily clear JEE main paper 2.
