You absolutely can take admission in NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) for Class 12 and still be eligible for engineering college entrance tests in 2026

Eligibility- To join NIOS for Class 12, you need to have passed your 10th-grade exams from a school that's officially recognized. Also, when July ends in 2025, you should have already turned 15 years old or be older to take the Class 12 exams.

Admission Process-Getting into NIOS Class 12 is pretty easy with their two time slots for exams each year.

If you want to take the exams around April 2026 so you're ready for engineering tests that year, you should try to sign up for NIOS between around now (April 2025) and July 2025. If you apply during this time, you won't have to pay any extra fees.

There's another exam slot in October, but for your goal of engineering tests in 2026, the April one is the better fit, and signing up sooner rather than later is a good idea.

How to Apply:- Signing up for NIOS Class 12 is mostly done online. Here’s the simple way to do it:

First, go to the NIOS website – it’s like their main online office, www.nios.ac.in (http://www.nios.ac.in) . Once you're there, find the part that says "Admissions" – that's where you need to go to join.

Since almost everyone signs up online these days, you'll want to pick the "Online Admission" option. NIOS has different ways to join, and for you, since you're new to NIOS for Class 12, you should choose "Stream 1". This is for all regular students.

Next, you'll fill out a form on the website with all your basic info. They'll ask for things like your name, where you live, and so on. After that, you'll need to put some of your documents online. This means taking pictures or scanning things like your 10th-grade marksheet (to show you passed), something that proves how old you are (like your birth certificate or Aadhaar card), something that shows your address, and a recent photo of yourself (like the ones you use for ID). Make sure these pictures are clear so they can read them easily.

Then comes picking your subjects. Since you want to go into engineering, it's important to choose Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. You'll need at least five subjects in total, so you can pick a couple more that you like.

After you've chosen your subjects, you'll need to pay the fees. You can usually do this online using your credit card, debit card, or through internet banking – whatever works best for you.

Finally, once you've paid, make sure to click the "Submit" button to send in your application. After it's submitted, the website should give you a page that confirms you've applied. Make sure to download this page and print it out. Keep it safe – it's your proof that you've signed up. That's all there is to it!

I hope it helps.
