If you so wish to practice acupuncture with an MD in Acupuncture and with five years of practice in acupressure, then you might take a formal undergraduate degree in acupuncture to further specialize. Many colleges offer B.Sc. Acupuncture, usually a 3-4 year course of detailed knowledge in the principles and techniques and clinical practices of acupuncture.

You can apply to institutes recognized by Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy or other accredited bodies. Ensure that the course contains hands-on clinical training; it will be necessary because experience is the best teacher in acupuncture.

However, with the background in acupressure, you can then more easily transition into the acupuncture course. You may be able to continue in specializations offered, such as auricular acupuncture or scalp acupuncture. Make sure that you research any eligibility criteria; your application will most probably be viewed favorably with an MD Acu background.
