Dear aspirant,

I nope you are doing well.

IIST is the pathway to join ISRO for class 12th students. To get admission in IIST, they have to write the JEE Main and Advanced examination and once they are through in Advanced examination, they have to apply separately for IIST and we go through our own selection process. Students are selected as per their ranks.

Below are the streams present:

1) Aerospace Engineering:

Essentially it deals with mechanical and then aerospace

2) Avionics Engineering:

Started with Avionics Engineering. It deals with aviation electronics then over the period we changed it to Electronics and Communication because people who wanted to go elsewhere other than ISRO used to find it difficult to find a career path with avionics as the main degree. So, they changed it to Electronics and Communication

3) Space Sciences:

Started with an idea that whomsoever will get admission in IIST, once they become eligible by virtue of their performance, they will get into ISRO. When they become eligible, they have cutoff marks for them. When they cross that cutoff mark, they will get into ISRO.

Eligibility for Exam:

The candidates should have the required eligibility for this purpose which includes- Intermediate/ Class 12th passed from the PCM Group along with a minimum percentage as stated. Bachelor of Technology with at least 65% marks in aggregate. Candidates who are in the final year of the qualifying degree can also apply provided they can produce the same by the time final selections are made.

Entrance Exam Pattern:

There will be an objective type paper divided into two parts for each subject as given below:
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
The candidates should score at least 60% marks in the written as well as interview which will be held subsequently after the written exam for all the qualifying candidates only for final selections.

Some preparation tips that might come handy:

  • Look out for Repeated Questions.
  • Make use of your GATE Preparation too!
  • Prepare Weightage-wise.
  • Choose your Battles Wisely: What to Skip & What to Attempt.
  • Build Your Concepts for the Interview Now.
  • Avoid Negative Marks At All Costs.

I hope this helps.

ALL THE BEST!

Hi Riya!

Yes, you have great opportunities to join in ISRO after completing M.Sc. in Physics. You'll be directly appointed for the post of Scientist-SC in ISRO.

After graduating in B.Sc. Physics, you do get opportunities in ISRO like Technical Assistant. Meanwhile, you can study M.Sc. Physics in correspondence, work Part-time here and secure your post as Scientist-SC in ISRO!

Hope this is helpful!

All the best!
