Yes, you can apply for CPT as there are no specific criteria for XIIth students as one only needs to pass the XIIth standard to be eligible for it which can be from any stream whether Science, Commerce or Arts.

If you are from Commerce stream i would suggest you to apply for CPT Exams.
But you are from Science Stream and CPT is a Entrance Exam for  CA.
To clear CPT one has to prepare Well enough in Accounts is main topic in CA.
you should know atleast basic in order to attempt for CA.

Syllabus  :-
1) Fundamental of Accounting - 60 Marks
2) Mercantile Law - 40 Marks
3) General Economics - 50 Marks
4) Quantitative Aptitude - 50 Marks

There is also Negative Marking in CPT Exam.
