I am currently registered in U.P. state medical council. Do i have to get registered in MCI also? what is the difference between both?

MCI stands for Medical council of India, it is the highest association which supervise the medical society pan India. Then there are state councils as well. The UP state medical council allows you to practice medicine in the state itself. Registering in MCI will allow you to practice all over the country. 

You can apply for MCI as well.
