                     I Understood your query and the answer is YES. Yes you can change from one stream to another stream in M.Tech in IIT or NIT.  Most of student will change the stream of their B.Tech branch mainly due to two reasons- Due to demand of that particular branch or the particular student having less GATE score.

But here is the main point to be observed,

• The one who wants to change should have a valid GATE score during the admission.
• For Example, If someone wants to change from Mechanical to Electrical in M.Tech, he needs to have a valid GATE score in Electrical Branch.

Anyways the cutout will be decided by the Institutes but IIT's gives more flexibilty than the other Institutes.
