i am from mechanical field will be working in cognizant for genc profile,wiil this affect my admissions to iim if i crack the first round.

If you work for the Cognizant there are no such influencing factor that will add demerits for your selection to IIM. SO you have nothing to worry about it. Keep on studying about the CAT examination and once you crack the examination with good ranks you will get admission no matter what. Also having some work experience can give you additional credit in the admission as well as in your professional life.
