Although the cut-off varies by year and category, it is possible to get into an NIT with a 79 percentile in the ST category. It is anticipated that the ST category cut-off will be lower than the general category cut-off.
You may get admission in NIT but getting CSE Branch is near impossible.

You have a fair chances of getting admission in NITs , according to your percentile and category, but CSE branch cutoff usually very high in all the NITs, you can apply in different NITs and also in other branches as well apart from CSE like ECE, CIVIL etc.
