Dear aspirant;
It depends on your branch preferences.
For getting into 5 top nit with any branch, for a safe side you need to get 150+ but to get a preferred branch 200–250 would get you a good branch moving above with your marks.
Sir,you can get admission in government colleges but not in NIT or either you will get the newly opened NITs.
Thank you.
All the best for your future!
Anurag with your 120 marks in JEE main exam in the general category you can expect to get rank in the range of 60,000 - 80,000. With this rank, your chance to get admission in any of the NITs or IIITs is very slim but you can get admission in some of the other private engineering colleges. For NIT you need to check your state quota in one of the NIT of your state and without state quota in other NITs.
To check out the last few years cut-off of NITs, IIITs and other private engineering colleges you can go through this link:
Along with this you will also definitely clear JEE Mains cut-off and will get an opportunity to sit in JEE Advanced exam where with a wonderful performance you will also get an opportunity to get into top engineering colleges like IITs. JEE Advanced score is not at all influenced by the score of JEE Mains so you can definitely give that exam to the best of your abilities.
Feel free to ask if you have any more queries. All the best!!
