Firstly its upto your interest to choose from these branches,  both of these are core branches and the subjects in which you have more interest in you should go for that. But if we talk about scope of both the fields obviously mechanical has a bit more placement chances when compared with electrical engineering.  But if you dont have interest in mechanical and have interest in electrical then you should go for that.
