As you have creative thinking and you are interested in inventions and you explore creative ideas so for you engineering is best. Though every field needs students like you but I guess for you engineering is good nowadays engineering is degrading it's prestige because students who have creative thinking and creative ideas are not taking engineering as there career but all just go with trend.
