Automobile engineering is the branch of Mechanical Engineering. 

Automobile engineers Design, test, develop and repair vehicles from its concept stage to its production stage. 

Eligibility for pursuing automobile engineering is that you must have passed class 12 with Science stream ( PCM). After that you have to clear entrance exam which are conducted at both national and state levels ( JEE, BITSAT, AIEEE etc)

Automobile engineer can further specialise in electronics, emmissions, vehicle and pedestrian safety, manufacturing, supply chain management etc.

Automobile industry is growing at a fast rate and so you can get number of opportunities in this field.

Private transport companies 

Defence companies 

Automobile technicians

Automobile designers

Executive and managerial positions

Or if you want self employment then you can setup maintenance of workshops or automobile garage.

Or if you still wish to continue your educational career in automobile engineering then you can continue by joining mtech and PhD programs . And further you can pursue your career as a research scientist or full-time/part-time professor or lecturer in engineering colleges in India or abroad. 

So Automobile Engineering as a career option is good. You have huge numbers of career options in this field.
