In BA and MA you are supposed to choose 1 major subject and then there can be some minor subjects depending upon the norms of the college or university you study in.
Example: A Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, apart from dealing with Political theories, also teaches about various systems of governance, economics, sociology, international relations, global politics, psychology etc.
