If you failed to apply for GATE this year, then you can look for colleges which offer direct admission, else you can apply for other entrance exams. If you are wanting to get admission in colleges that are eligible only through GATE, then it won't be possible to get direct admission. I recommend you to wait a year and apply for GATE.
