Here’s the real situation:

• For MBA admissions at CIT through government quota , TANCET score is mandatory .
  (They participate in TANCET counselling managed by Anna University.)

• Without TANCET , you cannot get a government seat at CIT.

• But , some colleges (depending on management rules) keep "Management Quota" seats where:

  • TANCET is not compulsory .

  • You can apply directly to the college with your UG degree marks and sometimes just a simple interview.

For CIT , it's mostly strict about TANCET because it is a government-aided institution.
Management quota seats are very limited and not guaranteed without a TANCET score.
