You need to secure a EWS Rank anywhere around 2000, to hold chances in securing a seat in CSE at some of the NITs, Good IIITs and Top GFTIs like PEC Chandigarh, IIEST or BIT Mesra. Assuming a EWS Rank of 2000, you will require a Corresponding CRL anywhere around 10-11k, for having good chances in securing a seat in CSE/IT at some of the NITs, IIITs, GFTIs. Hence, you need to improve your percentile from 96.5 to anywhere near 99.0, for better scope and prospects during Counselling.

However, if not CSE, you should be assured of a Seat in one of the NITs in a Respectable Branch, with a peecentile score of 96.5, or a Corresponding CRL anywhere between 38-40k.

Unfortunately, you Home State NIT is NIT Warangal, which has really high Cutoffs hence you wont find any subsequent advantage of the Home State Tag.
