If you have been given a compartment in Mathematics but an overall percentage of 63, you need to first clear the compartment exam. Then, you can attempt the improvement exam to raise your marks. But where admissions into NITs and IITs are concerned, the eligibility criteria are strict.

  1. For JEE Mains,  you must fulfill the general eligibility requirements, including having cleared your Class 12 (or equivalent) examination with at least 75% marks or falling within the top 20 percentile of your board (for general category). For reserved categories, the percentage requirement is waived. If you clear your compartment exam and score better marks, make sure you are eligible before applying for JEE Mains.
  2. For JEE Advanced, you have to qualify JEE Mains and satisfy the institute's eligibility criteria to become eligible for JEE Advanced. You must have cleared your Class 12 (or equivalent) exam, and any increase in marks after the compartment exam will be taken into account during the time of selection.

Finally, you can still appear for JEE Mains and Advanced after clearing the improvement and compartment exam, subject to your eligibility based on the marks and other criteria. It's always a good idea to strive hard in these exams to enhance your chances of getting into renowned institutes such as NITs and IITs.

Hi ,

Yes certainly iits and nits give admission to the students if their percentage in their boards exam is above 75%

In your case, in present scenario since your percentage is less than 75 you are not eligible for the admissions. But after giving the improvement next year , if your percentage crosses the 75% mark , then you are absolutely eligible for the admissions in iit and nit.

You do not need to worry since if your percentage next year is above 75 since you can certainly get an admission in iit and nit . So presently you should focus on your studies and try to  secure the marks so that you are eligible for the admissions.

Also, the admission criteria to the iit and nit changes yearly , so it is advisable to regularly keep checking the official website and knowing about the present case scenarios and then prepare accordingly. You should visit the official website next year and know about the changes if there is any.

Hope this resolves your query.
