I am appearing in 12class WB board exam and  like to read english hons in BA,staying at baguiati.If I get low percentile say 60% which colleges nearby would be available for getting entry.please suggest by names.with regards.

There are many colleges in Kolkata , some of them are very good their are cutoff are also as good.

The JU and Goenka are the best ones. But your marks are low.. you can try for colleges
Rammohan College (City College North) or South City College.  They would be best based on your marks.
You can go for PRESIDENCY COLLEGE, in case you don't get among above two.

The best colleges to study English honours would be Jadavpur University, Presidency University, St. Xaviers College, Narendrapur Ramkrishna Mission College. These are all autonomous colleges or universities and offer the best faculty, syllabi and marks. They follow a semester system of evaluation which is more effevtive and profitable for the students than the yearly system.

The second rung of colleges under Calcutta University for studying English honours would be Scottish Church College, Lady Brabourne College, Bethune College, Maulana Azad College, Asutosh College. These have a yearly evaluation system under Calcutta University. The syllabi is outdated and haven't been changed for decades.

But you need to check the eligibility criteria in these colleges
