i have 73.4% in boards and 27 in jee mains.Should i drop for jee and give improvement exam for meeting 75% criteria?

Well I think that will not be a good idea. Instead you can pursue in general line.

Hi there, the criteria is only important to be allowed to participate in the counselling rounds. Just for this, it is not advisable that you take a drop, unless you decide to appear for JEE again next year and score better marks. I hope you know, that next year, to appear for the counselling rounds, this year's marks are not going to be considered at all. If you think, you can do better next year, then go ahead and take a drop, else consider other colleges whose criteria match with your scores.
