hi,

see physical fitness criteria is different for different section of position. The vision should be 6/6 (normal) in each eye separately, color vision is tested for many post also.

for Deck Department,  Vision should be 6/6 in better eye and 6/9 in the other eye.

Engine and Electrical Department: Vision should be 6/12 in each eye or 6/9 in better eye and 6/18 in the other eye.

you need to thoroughly go through the official website notification before applying for any post.

Hey ;

For joining merchant Navy the authorities have set up some strict rules regarding eyesight of an applicant.

Now, if you can read the topmost line on the Vision chart without glasses, and can read with glasses up to 6/6 with the better eye, you are eligible for ANY position in Merchant Navy . Of course, you need to have a normal color vision as well.

But having a power of -6 and -7 ; it is really tough for you to get into the Deck. But you can easily wind up joining as an ETO officer (or) as an Engineering expert.

Hope this helps!
